ATTENTION!

• We use real Japanese lacquer (urushi) and pure gold in order to teach the authentic kintsugi method.

• In some cases, it is possible to develop a rash if the lacquer comes into direct contact with your skin. (Please read “Why can Urushi cause a rash?” below for more information on this.) We provide gloves and guidance for properly handling the lacquer.

• If the lacquer gets on your clothes, it cannot be removed. It does not come out even if you wash it.

“Why can Urushi cause a rash?”

Urushi (Japanese lacquer) comes from a plant that is related to poison ivy. Urushi, in its liquid from, can cause an allergic rash and dermatitis if it comes in direct contact with your skin. Fully dried Urushi cannot cause a rash. The rash normally appears 24 hours after contact and clears up within 2 weeks. Symptoms include itching and blistering. The duration of the rash and its severity depends on a person’s level of immunity. In oder to prevent scarring,  do not scratch the rash.

• No refunds will be issued except in the event that lessons cannot be held.

Cancellation Policy
Because the size of this class is limited, please understand that it has become necessary to have a cancellation policy. Kintsugi kit is non-refundable under any circumstances.

• If you cancel at least one week (7 days) before class, you will receive a full refund (class fee only).

• If you cancel fewer than seven days but more than 24 hours before the first class, you will receive a 50% refund (class fee only).

• There will be no refund if you cancel within 24 hours of the first class.
